The TR-BDF2 method for second order problems in structural mechanics

The application of the TR-BDF2 method to second order problems typical structural mechanics and seismic engineering is discussed. A reformulation this presented, that only requires solution algebraic systems size equal number displacement degrees freedom. linear analysis numerical experiments on relevant benchmarks show superior in terms accuracy efficiency classical Newmark its generalizations.
